Hi, first of all congratulations and thank you very much for that amazing tool, it's really cool!!!!
I have a question, is there any way to add subtitles to the movie?
I've tried adding using menconder option: -sub "subtitle.srt" but nothing happens, mencoder detects all subtitles but when it finished encoding my PSP doesn't show it

I tried the same thing with the same results, what gives?
This really needs subtitle support, but moreover it needs to remember your settings, especially skin changing since I have to change the skin every time I open the program.

I agree and support the idea that some feature that could include subtitles in the movie would be a very important and useful upgrade for users than not have english as mother language.
Hope that it will be included shortly...

you can try this
Goto the and key in this to the General Video Option:
-subpos 85 -subfont-text-scale 4 -subfont-blur 2 -subfont-outline 2 -unicode -font "C:\yourfont" -sub "sample.srt"
C:\yourfont > must find yourself
sample.srt > your movie sub
i have not tested

Well...Tested but not functional...
Tryed eith the settings:

I was expiriencing the same problem and found the solution:
use old build of mencoder (new builds don't recognise this commands) and make new dir "mplayer" in the directory of mencoder (if there no such dir). Put there your font and name it "subfont.ttf", so you don't need any more -font "C:\windowns\fonts" command. That's all - for me it's working... |

Hi, is there anyway to show Spanish-language characters i.e ó
i've tried the -utf8 instead -unicode but still does'nt show
and another two question:
how can i resize fonts (a little small)?
is there any tool to see pmp files on windows instead copying and viewing on psp (for testing purpose)?

| is there any way to use a alternitive codes for the audio the one i use for my mp3s is great it never has any noise even at 32bit i tryed to convert the out.mp3 with it befor it was merged but that just gave me an error on the psp about the header being wrong thanks for any help and if you want a copy of the codec to play with i can send it to ya |

wow this app it sure great and have quite evolve since the first version.
If I may complain about one thing, it the user interface: i'm using a laptop at 1024*768 resolution and it's really not eyecandy to have a program whose size can't be adujsted or the skin function who just change the backroung.
But i'm not critisize, as a matter of fact I can't wait for the newest version; this apps haven't failed me once, thanks a lot for taking the time to do it!!! |

is there any way to choose a DVD's -aid and -sid when decoding from VOB?
i want to choose a different audio track from the DVD that i'm decoding and english subtitles too.
is there any option you can put in to PMP Simple that anyone knows works? |

i had to use dvd://2
and the commands -aid and -sid did not work.
but you lead me in the right direction...
i found this

oddly, when i launch my DVD i cannot choose the subtitle cause there's only 1. i can only turn it on or off from the menu. here's a view of my DVD
is there something i can do with these .IFO files???

well if i remembered correctly the code for japanese language is jp so...

in my DVD player, or in Windows Media player...
when in the Menu, you go to choose to turn on subtitles...
i noticed there's only an ON/OFF option on this DVD.
maybe this is the reason why the -slang option is not working.
as for language codes... jap worked fine for me.
so i don't know, maybe it's just this one DVD. |

| Does anyone know why Simple PMP fails to create my .pmp files when I add try to encode the files using qscale? I add :vqscale 3 to the command switches area and it doesn't render... It'll run through the first thing, something about Skipping Frames, but the second time around just blinks the command prompt and the final one too. If I try to tell Simple PMP to transfer the encoded, or in this case non encoded, file it'll say that it doesn't exist. What am I doing wrong? |

i've given up on trying the subtitles thing on that one DVD.
i'm pretty sure problems are DVD specific... and i'm also pretty sure you were right about -slang option pegasus (if you're still checking the forum)
but here's a new question. i'm trying to rip certain episodes from a DVD of mine..
and before ripping the whole DVD ...mencoder states
"There are 9 titles on this DVD..."
"There are 6 chapters in this DVD title."
how do i chose a DVD title (which i am assuming are the actual episodes)?
i already tried -title 2 etc. and that didn't work.
update: i figured it out.... so dumb.
when chosing the number for dvd://? ?=title
me so smart. |

Aight, here's the deal (again. this time with another DVD that i need to rip to PMP)
like most of my DVD's, their are multiple audio tracks...but instead of choosing them with -alang i've noticed a trend in DVDs having many titles,
15 or more depending on the language. for example, if i want to rip Episode 4 of an anime with japanese audio from *un-named DVD*, i simply choose title 14 "dvd://14". wierd, i know. i simply use Media Player Classic to play the DVD and when i pick the episode and language i want, i can navigate to see what title is playing. so basically, for my DVDs i got the whole language thing taken care of.
BUT!, i still can't get subtitles "-slang" to work.
i've noticed that with the two DVDs i have been working on, there is no subtitle languages in the DVDs Menu to choose from. There is only Subtitle On/Off. i'm thinking this might be the root of my problem.
is there an option to just turn -sub on or something? |

thank you, you were dead on with -sid 0.
but it seems that with every step forward i encounter new problems.
this time, i'm noticing that i'm losing audio syncronization.
i've tried every possible video option combination.
i'm trying to convert a single episode from my Ghost in the Shell DVD and i've noticed that during the mencoding i get frequently occuring messages stating:
"demux_mpg: 24000/1001fps progressive NTSC content detected, switching framerate."
"Warning! FPS changed 23.976 -> 29.970"
maybe this is the reason why have really bad audio sync?
is there an option i can use to get around this audio sync problem?
