It seems like the only way suggested for connecting to the PS2 using TCP/IP is through Sony's network adapter.

However - there is more than one way to connect networks! What if my house is connected using Wireless LAN. A main HUB is connected to the Ethernet card on my PC, with clients connecting in using a USB Wireless network adapter.

How can the PS2 connect into this network?

The easy way:

1) Insert one end of an ethernet cable into the PS2 network adaptor.

2) Buy one of those fancy new wireless adaptors for consoles.

3) Insert the other end of the ethernet cable into this wireless adaptor.

4) Enjoy.

What were they thinking? This thing costs a hundred smackers!
Is there no cheaper solution?

You could always just string over a long ethernet cable...

A USB Wireless network adapter for PC costs about $14-29.
Do you think it is possible to write a driver for the PS2? A driver for Linux (with sourcecode) already exists.

Its certainly possible. Let us know of your progress. I'm sure Corwin here especially looks forward to your release of a working driver.

There is source code available for USB ethernet adapter with klsi chipset in the CVS ps2eth project. USB ethernet adapters only really have two chipsets.. klsi, and pegasus. The klsi driver hasn't been worked on because most people are happy to use the Sony ethernet adapter.
