Hi, i was wondering if there is a way to change the model on a ps2, i mean can we modify it somehow so the software shows a different model, something like a 30001 to become a 77000???.

i know in a xbox you can dump the eeprom and change the machine id, the lock code of the hdd is also stored there, is that similar into a ps2??

The version information is stored in the console's NVRAM. It is possible to override it - at least on the older PS2 models.
