It only affects the registration process, you'll be fine. :)

It isn't a perfect solution but 99% of these spam folks come from the free email services. I do get email from people every so often trying to register from banned domains and I manually activate their accounts.

As long as there's a way for them to contact you about getting registered, that should be fine. The main problem I see is that ISPs are cutting back on services provided. For example, I have Quest DSL - when I inquired about email, they told me to get an MSN account. They don't provide email, they don't provide NTTP, they don't provide ANYTHING except the ability to connect to the net. I don't think the DNS is even theirs. So I use my gmail or yahoo accounts for everything at the moment. I also have a Hotmail account, but don't tend to use it much since MS bought Hotmail and merged it with MSN.

My Qwest DSL offers email, username@q.com.. it just seems to be hosted and accessed through MSN.

I remember having troubles registering on this site a couple years ago because my ISP was OzEmail and was flagged as a free services here even though OzEmail (*@ozemail.com.au) is the name of an Australian ISP, heh.

That's not "offering" email. Having MS redirect one email url to their own free service doesn't count as offering a service. MS probably pays Qwest for directing people to them. It gives them a chance to legally spam the heck out of Qwest customers via the marketing nightmare known as MSN.

Does my marteljorge.no-ip.org mailserver with e-mail and ssh for all localusers as a free e-mail service?
