i know this is most probably a LONG shot, but what would i need to build a media player for the ps2? like what the ps2reality guys did.....

programming knowledge, a handful of documentation describing different av formats.
you might want to have a look at ffmpeg to save some sleepless nights writing yet another mpeg decoder.

yea, do you think i need to be a hardcore programmer or could a newbie like me maybe pull it off :oops:

| Demos are a good start... package them up as sample programs and get them added to ps2sdk for bonus points. :) |
