i was looking at the PARAM.SFO of EBOOT of demo version of echoshift downloaded from psn and i saw new (for me at least) items:
APP_VER, with value 01.00
HRKGMP_VER, with value 18
USE_USB, with value 0

the only one of wich i can figure out the meaning is APP_VER..

I'd also like to know how some games like Peace Walker can display a custom loading screen when launched from the XMB.

APP_VER = I see no use for this function, as soon as the psp "header" in your code gives this information, as version and release...

HRKGMP_VER = No idea, it's the version of something, but what?

USE_USB = I think that it is self explanatory, if the app requires USB, but i see no use for that, maybe now there's a system function that does that USB dialog mess? Or there's is a bug when using charging functions in some USB dialog function?....

About the Peace Walker case:
I've seen something similar in 1SEG.PBP, if i'm not mistaken, it executes without game-loader...
Maybe i will study it later...
If discovered, it would be a cool function to be added in VLF...

EDIT:

The SFO documentation should be updated:
http://hitmen.c02.at/files/yapspd/psp_doc/chap26.html#sec26.4

btw, the Peace Walker has a diferrent Cat. Flag: EG
Following the patern, it's "E... Game", Electronic(?) maybe?

Still has to get a long with psar in order to try to understand the loading screen trick...
