Mysterious boot error

I'm receiving an odd error when I try starting LuaPlayer on a 1.5 firmware. I've tried LuaPlayer 0.7 - 1.0, all resulting in the same issue.
Here's the error:

Boot error: No boot script found!
Press start to restart

As far as I can tell, the program should run without any modification as long as it's in the right place on the memory stick. I've Google'd the error and come up empty handed as well as searched bulletin boards on multiple websites. I have also tried moving the System/system.lua script, which appears to be a likely candidate for a startup script, in more obvious places, such as boot.lua or System/boot.lua.

Any help in resolving the matter would be greatly appreciated, as I'm pretty interested in stretching out and writing a few things.

Update
Ironically enough, there's a thread in this forum I happened to not see because they don't actually mention the error, it's just danced around. The thread is here, though it doesn't seem to solve any of my problems.

Did you try http://www.luaplayer.org/LuaPlayer_v0.10.3_firmware15.zip ? Looks like it is time for a new official release :-)
