After some discussions with a few people its been decided that we're going to split the ps3 related discussions to a new web site (ps3dev.org). That means a chance to take a fresh approach to everything. If you've got an opinion of what you would like to see with the new site, this is the place to give it. Once the software is configured there won't be many chances to fix it.

To start with the basics. Forum software will continue to be phpBB unless anyone has another opinion? It will reside at forums.ps3dev.org

We will split the wiki and have some wiki software residing at wiki.ps3dev.org. Any suggestions on good wiki software?

We will have the subversion repository which will be available to view via svn.ps3dev.org

The main site ps3dev.org needs to be a CMS for news and links and other things. Any suggestions?

plone is nice but i don't know if it's suitable for a project oriented site (like sourceforge.net, etc). It'd be nice to have a project space for ps3dev.org so we can be a good place to group ps3 projects :)

I got a little bit of time tonight to split off the domains and install drupal. I picked it because it has won some CMS awards and looks like it has some a lot of support. It also has lots of modules, some of which should cater for creating sub projects, etc.

Does anyone have any drupal experience? If you're up for the challenge of getting the site setup PM me. Its unlikely I will have much time to get much further than what I've done.

I've configured the domains forums.ps3dev.org but haven't put PHPBB there yet. I'm not sure of the best way to move users/messages from these forums to there. Anyone have any ideas?

Looks like Drupal 6.2 doesn't support the useful modules we need. eg project and project tracker. Will need to downgrade to 4.7 or switch to another CMS. I'll look at it in the next couple of days. I will probably have to wipe out what I've put there.

I've removed drupal 6.2 and added drupal 5.7. Anyone who registered will need to register again. Next job is to add the project and project tracker modules for drupal.

The project, project issue tracking, project releases and project usage modules have been added to the site. Administrators have been given full control over the modules.

I've installed the CAPTCHA module which should hopefully reduce the number of crap accounts being created. Captcha is currently only enabled on the registration but can be enabled for other input pages. If you want to allow anonymous comments anywhere let me know so I can add captcha to the page.

Man, that was a tough captcha - between myself and a coworker it took about 12 tries. "uhh, backwards question mark?"
I wonder if it doesn't incorporate one of those ink-blot tests in an attempt to gauge the sanity of prospective members ...

OK, so maybe making the font BTSE PS2 Font wasn't such a good idea. :) I've reverted back to the inbuilt font for now. Hopefully this won't take so many tries. Thanks for the feedback.

Does anyone have any experience with the following javascript editors? I'm leaning towards tinymce or the wymeditor.

Another possible module to add. What are peoples experiences with openid?

I've added the openid module. Can someone with openid try it out? It didn't seem to work for me, but I've never used openid before. I could have been doing something wrong.
