I am goin to Japan in a few weeks. I would like to get a PSP that has firmware 1.0. Does anyone know if these are still being carried in the stores?

Its a Sony DS-HMD1. I was thinking maybe in the future someone would figure out how to run a HiMD in the UMD with a few mods. This thing would be great to "write" UMD's.

your probably going to be out of luck. they already stopped selling firmware 1.0 in retail stores in japan, maybe you can find some kid on the street that has some for sale. or a small pond shop.

There are "recycle" stores that specialize in buying back used console game discs and hardware. Your best bet is to find that kind of store.

The one in my town has 3 PSP's from launch lined up for sale.

I've come to Japan for three weeks to visit a friend. In Tokyo around Akihabara (Electric Town) you probably won't find 1.00's. I bought my PSP from a store in Shinjuku (another big part of Tokyo) that seemed to sell everything - also a lot cheaper than Akihabara (some of the prices there are a bit inflated for tourists) - 23500yen for a value pack, which was v1.00. Also got Ridge Racer for 3500yen :-) Most places are selling games for 4200-4500.

1Gb Duo's seem to be sold out over the weekend, although they'll probably be back in stock soon. Glad I didn't pick one up though, didn't realise 2Gb Duo's were out :-)
