I am working on developing some PSP sections for my sites. I have tested some small (IMO) pages but they load really slow. I have read that turning off the wlan power save feature can boost speed, but I tried that and a 135 KB page loaded super slow (2 - 4 minutes).

I have tried switched through a few different DNS portals, but they seemed to be the same speed, but thought perhaps I just tested the slow ones.

Does the DNS I use affect the load speed and if so, does anybody know a decently fast DNS I can use so I can develop decently feature rich websites?

is wlan power save on in your psp's configuration.
this will drastically slow down website browsing.

try pinging the DNS server? If your connection to it is slow, then your connection will be slow(er). It shouldn't be really bad unless the browser is resolving the DNS every single time it makes a connection, which would add up on a feature-rich website.
